Grand Prairie police are investigating a major crash that occurred on Saturday around 8 p.m. on South Belt Line Road, near Marshall Drive. Witness video shows an SUV catching fire after it appears to have been struck, and it’s not clear if anyone made it out alive. Witnesses who heard the crash and called for help spoke to FOX 4, with one witness describing the chaotic scene at the Fuel Stop gas station. Another witness helped one of the victims while waiting for first responders to arrive.
According to reports, the crash may have been caused by street racing. Police at the scene indicated that this was a possibility, although further confirmation is still pending. Elisa Arguello, who witnessed the aftermath of the crash, recounted seeing the driver of the red car being pulled out and trying to stand up despite her urging him to stay low. She also noted that speeding cars are a common sight on Belt Line.
