A tragic incident occurred in Fort Worth as a woman on probation for shooting another woman in 2023, De Aujalae Evans, was charged with killing Fort Worth police officer Sgt. Billy Randolph while driving drunk. Evans admitted to consuming nearly a dozen shots before crashing into Sgt. Randolph, throwing him into the air. Despite being rushed to the hospital, Sgt. Randolph later succumbed to his injuries. Evans fled the scene but was quickly apprehended near a Motel 6. She exhibited signs of intoxication and failed sobriety tests, leading to her arrest for driving while intoxicated. Evans remains in jail on a $750,000 bond with strict conditions if released, including house arrest, an ankle monitor to monitor alcohol consumption, and an interlock breathalyzer on her car. The tragic loss of Sgt. Randolph, a 29-year veteran of the Fort Worth Police Department, has left the community mourning his death. A candlelight vigil was held in his honor, and a celebration of life ceremony is scheduled to take place on his birthday. The incident has highlighted the dangers of drunk driving and the devastating consequences it can have on individuals and their loved ones.
