Donald Trump’s presidential campaign has announced its official “transition team,” led by former administration official Linda McMahon and businessman Howard Lutnick. This move signals confidence in a victory in the upcoming election and is also required by law. Transition teams are meant to prepare for assuming the presidency and ease the handoff of power. Vice President Kamala Harris will also appoint a transition team as the Democratic nominee.
The Trump transition team plans to focus on implementing an agenda that includes tax cuts, mass deportations, expanding the energy industry, and asserting more control over non-political government employees. Trump has also discussed using the Justice Department to target political opponents. Harris and aides have criticized Trump’s plans, accusing him of wanting an authoritarian-style government as outlined by “Project 2025.” They also claim that a second Trump administration would work to limit abortion rights and reduce healthcare access.
Despite Trump’s confidence in a successful transition, Harris’s campaign spokesperson James Singer has expressed skepticism and stated that the American people cannot trust Trump’s promises. The transition teams for both presidential candidates will play a crucial role in preparing for assuming office if they win the election in November.
