Former Texas Secretary of State Rolando Pablos has thrown his hat in the ring to become the next mayor of San Antonio, joining a growing list of candidates vying for the position as current Mayor Ron Nirenberg’s time in office comes to an end next year. Pablos, who entered the race on Tuesday, believes the city is in need of “visionary leadership” and promises to bring about much-needed change if elected in May.
Pablos, who previously served as commissioner of the Public Utility Commission of Texas and chairman of the Texas Racing Commission before his role as Secretary of State, plans to focus on reducing violent crime and addressing affordable housing in San Antonio. He is the fifth candidate to enter the mayoral race, joining council members Manny Palaez, Adriana Rocha Garcia, and John Courage, as well as businessman Beto Altamirano.
The race for mayor of San Antonio is heating up, with each candidate bringing their own vision and platform to the table. As the city faces challenges related to crime and housing, voters will have the opportunity to decide who they believe is the best candidate to lead San Antonio into the future. Stay tuned for more updates on the mayoral race as the election draws nearer.
