Applications are now open for the Texas Music Incubator Rebate Program, which provides qualifying music venues and festival promoters with a full or partial rebate of certain taxes to support the live music industry in Texas. The program, approved by the state legislature with $20.2 million in funding, aims to help the music industry create jobs and attract investment to the state. Governor Greg Abbott highlighted the importance of the music industry to Texas, noting its contribution of over 192,000 direct and indirect permanent jobs. The TMIR Program offers rebates of mixed beverage gross receipts taxes or sales taxes from beer and wine sales, up to $100,000 per eligible venue or promoter. Applicants can apply until Nov. 30 for Fiscal Year 2024. This program is seen as a way to help Texas continue to build a vibrant music scene and attract talent and investment to the state. Interested parties can find more information about eligibility and how to apply on the program’s website.
