Disneyland Half-Marathon Participant Passes Away Following Race, Shares Concerns About High Temperatures

Bobby Graves, a popular runner known as @calebgtravels on social media, collapsed and died after completing Disneyland’s Halloween Half-Marathon in Southern California. The 33-year-old went into cardiac arrest after crossing the finish line, despite marathon workers quickly providing aid. Graves was rushed to the hospital but passed away shortly after arrival. The cause of his death is still being determined by the Orange County Coroner’s Office.

Graves had posted a video warning about the hot weather conditions just before the race, as temperatures soared into the triple digits in Southern California. Disney, where Graves frequently visited and posted about on social media, expressed deep sadness over his passing. Graves was a writer, director, and producer, as well as an associate at a law firm specializing in entertainment and intellectual property.

Health officials advise runners to be alert, stay hydrated, understand the dangers of high temperatures, and know the signs of heat illness and heat stroke. It is important to seek help immediately if experiencing symptoms of heat stroke and to dress appropriately for the weather. Additionally, runners should prehydrate, carry water, and consult with their doctor before running in hot weather conditions. Bobby Graves’ tragic death highlights the importance of taking precautions when participating in physical activities in extreme heat.
