Body camera footage was released showing the arrest of social media model Maecee Marie Lathers after a fatal car crash in downtown Miami last month. The Instagram model, who was on a substance known as “pink cocaine,” faces multiple criminal charges including vehicular homicide. Lathers claimed to have taken tusi, a party drug, during her arrest and made bizarre statements to police. She was initially placed under house arrest but was sent back to jail after additional DUI manslaughter charges were added. Tusi, or pink cocaine, is a pink powder that contains various psychoactive substances and is sold illegally in the U.S.
The crash resulted in the death of Abraham Ismael and Jesus Rubio, with Ismael’s fianceĢe sustaining injuries. Ismael was a father and Rubio was his friend, both of whom were involved in the crash while driving to work. First responders extracted Ismael from the wreckage, but he died in the hospital, while Rubio was pronounced dead at the scene. Lathers was seen in the body camera footage screaming and acting incoherently after the accident. The tragic incident has caused anguish for the victims’ families, with a GoFundMe page created for Ismael’s funeral expenses. Lathers faces serious consequences due to her actions leading up to the fatal crash, including additional charges and legal proceedings.
