Rabid bat discovered in Plano

A bat found in Plano, Texas has tested positive for rabies, city officials confirm. The bat was discovered on Throwbridge Lane on September 11 and subsequently tested positive for the disease. Fortunately, there were no reports of the bat having contact with any humans or other animals. Plano Animal Services Director Jamie Cantrell emphasized the importance of keeping pet vaccinations up to date, particularly for rabies, as there is always a risk of pets coming into contact with wild animals. It is also noted that the city does not regularly test wild animals for rabies. If anyone suspects their pets may have been in contact with the infected bat, they are urged to contact Plano Animal Services. This serves as a reminder for pet owners to ensure their animals are protected against rabies, as the disease is transmitted through bites from infected animals. The information in this article is sourced directly from the City of Plano.
