A tourist couple drove into the water at a South Carolina marina after getting confused by GPS directions. The couple, in their 60s, had dinner at a restaurant before the incident occurred. Employees from the Islander 71 Seafood restaurant and bar jumped into the water to rescue the couple from their sinking vehicle. The couple was saved by bartender Johnny Himmelsbach, a former lifeguard, who acted quickly to pull them out before the car submerged. Another employee joined in the rescue effort while others alerted first responders. No injuries or environmental impacts were reported. Coworkers of Himmelsbach praised his heroic actions, with one calling him an angel. The vehicle was later recovered by the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office Dive Team. The incident led to the closure of the boat ramp. Isle of Palms Police Department confirmed the details and said they had not received any additional information at the time. The quick actions of the restaurant employees prevented a potential tragedy and saved the couple from harm.
