The Frisco City Council has approved a $182 million plan to renovate Toyota Stadium, the home of FC Dallas. The renovations include adding more luxury suites, club spaces, and a fabric canopy over the seating areas. The Hunt Sports Group, which owns the stadium, also plans to develop a mixed-use space with a hotel, apartments, retail, and restaurant spaces.
Construction is expected to begin in January and be completed by August 2027. The stadium, which opened in 2005, currently holds about 20,500 people. The renovation will add over 3,400 seats. The stadium is also used by Frisco ISD for high school football games.
The proposed improvements for the stadium include upgraded club spaces, luxury suites, new broadcast booths, food service areas, and LED sports lighting. The fabric canopy will cover the east and west seating areas as well as the north end zone.
In addition to the stadium upgrades, there are plans for a 1.2 million square feet mixed-use development that includes office space, a hotel, apartments, and retail and restaurant spaces. The development will also include parking structures and civic spaces.
