Garcia Chavez, 18, were also charged with aggravated robbery. The incident occurred when two young men rushed a homeowner after knocking on her door, prompting a 911 call from a neighbor. The responding officers found the suspects inside the home, resulting in a confrontation where one officer was shot in the leg by Raymond Perez. The injured officer, identified as Officer S. Durfee, is expected to make a full recovery after being treated at the hospital. The department praised the officer’s partner for applying a tourniquet to stop the bleeding. The neighbor who called for help was commended for their vigilance by Houston Police Department Chief J. Noe Diaz. Mayor John Whitmire also expressed appreciation for the brave first responders involved in the incident.
