Twin brothers Alec and Aden O’Connor, both 11 years old, from Fort Worth, Texas, have been diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia. Alec was first diagnosed four years ago, while Aden found out about his diagnosis in 2023. Despite their young age, the boys are mature beyond their years and are chronicling their journey to let other children know they are not alone in their fight.
Their mother, Rhea Scott, shared that Aden’s treatment initially started out rough, but he miraculously pulled through thanks to the doctors’ efforts. The twins were recently invited to London to be part of a documentary on childhood cancer in the U.K., where they shared their emotional journey.
Alec and Aden are sharing their story on social media to inspire others and spread awareness about childhood cancer. They want other young patients to know that they are not alone and that there are others like them who need help. The boys have a positive outlook despite their struggles and are praying for anyone going through a similar situation.
Their mother, Rhea Scott, is planning to start a nonprofit to provide financial and emotional support to families with children battling cancer. Through their social media platform “Aden and Alec O’Connor’s Cancer Journey,” the twins are sharing videos and posts about their experience to offer hope and encouragement to others in similar circumstances. The family hopes to raise awareness about childhood cancer and let families know they are not alone in their fight.
