The City of Fort Worth, Texas recently approved a $2.79 billion budget that includes pay raises for first responders and minimum wage city employees. Additionally, the budget includes bringing MedStar ambulances in as a city service and allocating $10 million for road maintenance. Despite rising property values, the tax rate for Fort Worth homeowners will remain the same at a little over 67 cents per $100 of property value. However, most residents can still expect to see an increase in their property taxes. In order to keep the tax rate flat, the council made cuts to unfilled job positions and scaled back a neighborhood revitalization program. Despite these adjustments, the overall approved budget aims to prioritize the needs of the community, with a focus on public safety and infrastructure maintenance. With the approval of this budget, the city of Fort Worth is taking steps to ensure the continued growth and development of the city while also balancing the needs of its residents.
