Qatar Airways Prohibits Use of Pagers and Walkie Talkies in Response to Hezbollah Attacks

Qatar Airways has banned pagers and two-way radios from its flights out of Beirut following explosions in Lebanon targeting Hezbollah militants. The ban applies to all passengers at Beirut Rafic Hariri International Airport, and is in response to recent device explosions blamed on Israel. The Lebanese government and Hezbollah have accused Israel of attacking Hezbollah’s communications equipment, resulting in numerous casualties. Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah described the incidents as an unprecedented security and military blow. Qatar Airways stated that the ban on pagers and walkie-talkies applies to both checked and carry-on luggage, as well as cargo, and will be enforced until further notice. The airline operates flights to over 170 international destinations and is based in Doha. This move comes after a series of explosions in Lebanon that have left many dead and injured, sparking tensions in the region.
