Meteorologist Dylan Dreyer has weighed in on who might replace Hoda Kotb as anchor on “Today” after Kotb announced her departure. Dreyer believes any of the team members, including Craig Melvin, Sheinelle Jones, Jenna Bush Hager, Carson Daly, and others, have the talent to take over alongside Savannah Guthrie. Dreyer expressed her support for her colleagues and mentioned that the news of Kotb’s departure came as a surprise to many.
During the People’s Choice Country Awards, Dreyer shared that she believes any decision involving the core group of “Today” would not be surprising. Although she jokingly mentioned wanting Al Roker to retire so she could potentially take on a new role, she has not made any official statements regarding her interest in the anchor chair. Kotb announced her departure on air, expressing her desire to focus more on her family and spend more time with her daughters.
Despite the unexpected news, Kotb’s colleagues showed their support for her during the announcement. The “Today” team joined together to celebrate Kotb’s time on the show and wish her well in her future endeavors. While the decision for the new anchor has not been officially announced, Dreyer and other members of the “Today” family are ready to support whoever takes on the role.
