Rock music legend Elton John proved he’s “still standing” despite a plethora of health issues in a speech at the premiere of his new documentary, “Elton John: Never Too Late,” at the New York Film Festival. The 77-year-old joked about his numerous surgeries and health problems over the years, including recovering from a severe eye infection last month and dealing with hearing loss.

Despite these challenges, John expressed gratitude to his fans for their support throughout his career. The singer has decided to retire from touring after completing his Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour in 2023.

John, who is an EGOT winner, praised his husband, David Furnish, and their sons Zachary and Elijah during the premiere, calling them the most important part of his life. The documentary, set to stream on Disney+ in December, explores John’s 50-year career and features unseen footage from his personal archives, showcasing his greatest hits and lesser-known gems from the ’70s.

“Elton John: Never Too Late” had its world premiere at the Toronto Film Festival and will continue to resonate with fans as it provides an intimate look into the life and career of one of the world’s most iconic musicians. Despite his health challenges, Elton John’s legacy and impact on the music industry remain as strong as ever.
