Royce White, a candidate for Minnesota’s U.S. Senate seat, has faced criticism for a resurfaced social media post from 2022 in which he claimed “the bad guys won” World War II, suggesting there were no “good guys” in the war and linking liberalism and communism to the Allied forces. The backlash comes as White trails behind incumbent Sen. Amy Klobuchar in the polls. White responded to the post, criticizing the post-WWII global economy and accusing liberals of being pro-war and pro-crony capitalism. White, a former NBA player, has a history of controversial statements and actions, including allegations of using campaign funds at a strip club, being transphobic, and claiming to be further right than former President Donald Trump. Despite his past controversies, White is making another attempt at a political career after previously failing to advance past the Republican primary for the Minnesota District 5 House of Representatives Seat. White, a Minnesota native, played three games in the NBA and was drafted 16th overall in the 2012 NBA Draft. He also played in the Big 3 league after being selected first overall. White’s campaign did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
