Democratic vice-presidential candidate Kamala Harris pledged to support ‘good union jobs’ during a rally in Flint, Michigan. Harris emphasized the importance of growth in cities like Flint and advocated for jobs that do not require a college degree, highlighting that a college degree is not the only measure of a worker’s skill or experience. She also promised to challenge the private sector to follow suit by highlighting federal jobs that do not require a college degree.

Harris, who comes from a middle-class background, assured the crowd that she will never forget her roots and will work towards creating opportunities for all Americans. She spoke on the need for increased support for working-class individuals and the importance of recognizing the skills and experience of workers beyond traditional education.

During the rally, Harris received support from basketball legend Magic Johnson, who emphasized the importance of Black men voting for Harris. The event in Flint focused on Harris’ economic policies and support for the labor movement as the election draws nearer.

Meanwhile, former President Donald Trump held a town hall in Fayetteville, North Carolina, where he discussed various topics including changing the name of the army base Fort Liberty back to Fort Bragg.
