Nebraska’s Ballot Includes Abortion, Medical Marijuana, and School Choice

Nebraskans will be voting on a variety of important issues in the upcoming election. Six state ballot measures will be on the ballot, including ones related to medical marijuana legalization, abortion access, paid sick leave, and a school voucher program. The measures faced legal challenges but ultimately made it onto the ballot.

In regards to abortion access, voters will see competing proposals on the ballot – one to guarantee abortion rights and another to restrict them. Nebraska is one of nine states where abortion rights will be on the ballot, with the issue being a key one in the presidential election.

Another significant issue on the ballot is the legalization of medical marijuana, which has faced previous challenges. Nebraskans will decide on decriminalizing and legalizing medical cannabis for patients in need of it.

Paid sick leave for workers is also on the ballot, with the measure aiming to require businesses to offer paid sick leave to their employees. Despite being a conservative state, Nebraska voters have historically supported worker-centered ballot measures.

There will also be a vote on whether to repeal a law that directs state money towards private school scholarship funds. After a back-and-forth between supporters of school choice and public school advocates, Nebraskans will decide on the future of this program.

Overall, the upcoming election in Nebraska will feature important decisions on a variety of issues that will impact the state and its residents.
