Four Americans are among the hostages still believed to be alive after being kidnapped in the Oct. 7 Hamas attacks on Israel last year. These hostages include Edan Alexander, a young Israeli soldier from New Jersey, Omer Neutra, an IDF soldier from Long Island, Sagui Dekel-Chen, a father of three from an Israeli border community, and Keith Siegel, an occupational therapist who has been held hostage with his wife Aviva.
Edan Alexander, described as a great kid, was taken hostage during the surprise attack by Hamas and has been seen in Gaza tunnels, appearing skinny but in a good mood. Omer Neutra, an avid sports fan, is an IDF soldier who deferred his studies to enlist and was captured by Hamas. Sagui Dekel-Chen, a hardworking family man, has been in captivity since the attack, with reports of him being alive but wounded. Keith Siegel, an occupational therapist, was kidnapped along with his wife and was featured in a propaganda video by Hamas, expressing love for his family.
Families of these hostages are pleading for their return and have been actively pushing for their release, meeting with government officials and raising funds. The hostages’ loved ones are holding onto hope for their safe return, despite the challenges they face and the uncertainty of their loved ones’ conditions. They continue to advocate for the hostages’ release and are determined to see their family members safely reunited.
