In the latest episode of “Saturday Night Live,” the show parodied a vice presidential debate between Sen. JD Vance, R-Ohio, and Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz. Maya Rudolph played Vice President Kamala Harris, and Andy Samberg played second gentleman Doug Emhoff, watching the debate at home. The sketch mocked the mostly civil debate between Vance and Walz, with Bowen Yang playing Vance and Jim Gaffigan playing Walz. The skit highlighted some of Vance’s past controversial comments, such as comparing Trump to Hitler. Gaffigan’s Walz made light of a previous gaffe about the Tienanmen Square Massacre, claiming he had been to EPCOT instead. The sketch also portrayed the two candidates finding common ground and wanting to walk back some of their statements. Former SNL cast member Dana Carvey made a guest appearance as Joe Biden, adding to the comedic antics. Despite the humor, the sketch emphasized the politeness and camaraderie displayed between Vance and Walz during the debate. The episode concluded with a teaser for the upcoming episode on October 12, featuring Ariana Grande as the host and Stevie Nicks as the musical guest.
