Union Pacific’s Big Boy No. 4014, the largest operating steam locomotive in the world, made a stop in Dallas before arriving in Fort Worth for a free public event. Only eight out of the 25 “Big Boys” built during World War II survived, and No. 4014 is the only one currently in operation. The locomotive will be on display at 275 W. Lancaster Avenue in Fort Worth from Thursday to Friday, with free admission for the public. The train will also be part of a private Union Pacific event on Saturday before leaving Fort Worth on Sunday as part of the Big Boy Heartland of America Tour, which takes the train through 10 states. The City of Fort Worth recommends parking at the Convention Center Parking Garage for those attending the event. The tour is a unique opportunity for train enthusiasts to witness the historic Big Boy No. 4014 in action as it continues its journey across the country. More information about the tour schedule and the locomotive’s current location can be found on Union Pacific’s website.
