“American Pickers” Star Frank Fritz Passed Away After a Tough Two Years, Says Close Friend
American Pickers star Frank Fritz’s friend, Jerry Gendreau, revealed in an interview that Fritz had a challenging last two years before passing away at age 60. Fritz suffered a stroke in July 2022 which left him bedridden and frustrated as he couldn’t communicate effectively. Additionally, Fritz battled Crohn’s disease and underwent back surgery in 2021 which resulted in numerous stitches and rods in his spine.
Gendreau shared that Fritz lost his will to live after the stroke and was unable to recover fully. Despite his health struggles, Fritz remained true to himself and made a mark on history with his straightforward nature.
Fritz passed away in a hospice facility in Iowa, surrounded by friends including former co-star Mike Wolfe. The duo had a falling out after Fritz left the show due to his health issues, but they reportedly reconciled before Fritz’s death. Wolfe had previously asked for prayers for his friend when he announced that Fritz had suffered a stroke earlier in 2022.
Fritz’s passing was mourned by his friend and former co-star Wolfe, who described him as a dreamer who touched many people’s hearts by being himself. Despite the challenges Fritz faced in recent years, he leaves behind a legacy that will be remembered by fans of the show.
In memory of Frank Fritz, fans and friends are reflecting on his time on “American Pickers” and the impact he had, both on television and in real life.
