The Colony Fire Department rallies behind battalion chief in his battle against kidney disease

The Colony Fire Department rallied together for a special cornhole tournament on Sunday to support Battalion Chief Brent Young, who was recently diagnosed with polycystic kidney disease. Young, a 27-year veteran of the department, discovered his kidneys were failing six months ago after routine bloodwork and physical exams. Despite not showing obvious symptoms, Young has started medical treatment and changed his diet to manage the disease. The cornhole tournament, called Toss for a Cause, was held to raise money for Young and to encourage potential kidney donors to sign up. Young is currently on the kidney transplant list, which typically has a wait time of 3 to 5 years. However, the more donors sign up, the faster Young may find a match. Young already has several potential donors, including fellow firefighters and his son. The event was also aimed at raising funds for Young’s family in case he needs dialysis in the future. The Young family is relying on their faith during this challenging time and appreciates the support from the fire department and the community.
