The nonprofit group Six Stones recently partnered with the city of Hurst to revitalize the home of a single mother of four, Kristi Swan. Swan, who is also a foster parent and has adopted three of her four children, expressed her gratitude for the much-needed assistance in brightening up her home. The partnership was part of a “Community Powered Revitalization” effort, which involved volunteers, private donations, and local funding to improve communities.
Hurst City Manager, Clay Caruthers, described the program as heartwarming and touching, expressing his appreciation for the impact it has on residents like Swan. The revitalization project aimed to complete the work in just two days, including pulling out old fences, removing vegetation, painting the home, and landscaping. Swan, who was recommended by a neighbor and chosen to participate, expressed her disbelief at being able to afford such improvements on her own.
Swan emphasized her gratitude for the help, stating that she couldn’t imagine where she would be without it. Her home was the 200th to be revitalized in Hurst, with Six Stones having completed work on over 800 homes throughout Tarrant County. The partnership between the city and the nonprofit group continues to positively impact the lives of residents in need of home improvements. FOX 4’s Dionne Anglin reported on the ongoing work being done at Swan’s home, highlighting the collaborative efforts that have made such a difference in the community.
