During a rally in Detroit, Donald Trump experienced technical difficulties with his microphone, causing him to walk around on stage for 18 minutes while the issue was fixed. Trump attempted to use a hand-held microphone that also did not work, and he eventually resorted to talking to staffers on stage amid cheers from the crowd. The rally was live streamed on the Right Side Broadcast Network, where an announcer mentioned that Trump’s campaign sought their assistance with a microphone. After about 15 minutes, music began playing and Trump’s microphone started working again.
Trump expressed frustration over the microphone malfunction, stating that he would not pay the bill for the faulty equipment. The incident was quickly seized upon by Kamala Harris’ campaign, who posted a video highlighting Trump’s awkward movements on stage during the malfunction. This came after a previous event in Pennsylvania where medical emergencies led Trump to suspend a town hall and instead engage in a mini-concert.
Democrats, including Harris, President Joe Biden, and former President Barack Obama, mocked Trump’s handling of the situation, with Obama joking about how his own playlist would be better. Despite the technical glitch, Trump eventually continued his rally in Detroit and delivered his speech to supporters.
