First Baptist Church in Dallas recently unveiled renderings for their rebuild after a devastating fire earlier this year destroyed their historic sanctuary. The new design features more eye-catching stained glass and a modern interior that honors the church’s past while looking towards the future. Some of the original stained glass salvaged from the fire will be re-installed to be more prominent both inside and outside of the sanctuary.
The church’s executive pastor, Ben Lovvorn, described the new sanctuary as a celebration of the church’s history and spiritual legacy, as well as an anticipation of all that God has in store for the future. The modern design features an open layout with plenty of natural lighting, giving a fresh and uplifting look to the space.
The fire that destroyed the 134-year-old sanctuary in July was a devastating blow to the congregation, but the new rebuild promises to be an impressive and revitalized space for worship. The construction plans were revealed to members during a Sunday service and have since been shared on the church’s website.
While the cause of the fire remains undetermined after an extensive investigation by Dallas Fire-Rescue, the church is moving forward with plans to rebuild and create a sanctuary that will not only honor the past but also symbolize a hopeful future for First Baptist Dallas.
