Attentive Doctor and Healthier Lifestyle Leave Grandfather Feeling Grateful

66-year-old Johnny Skelley from Lindale, Texas, was facing ongoing health issues despite moving to the area to improve his wellbeing. After experiencing multiple strokes and struggling with his weight, diet, and high blood pressure, he underwent a quintuple bypass surgery when it was discovered that his arteries were severely blocked.

Despite spending five weeks in rehabilitation post-surgery, Skelley still experienced symptoms like headaches and dizziness, prompting him to seek a second opinion from cardiologist Ajay Pachika, MD, FACC. Dr. Pachika identified a blood clot blocking two bypasses, which was promptly cleared, leading to immediate relief and improved blood flow.

Grateful for the care he received at UT Health East Texas, Skelley has since made significant progress in his health journey, focusing on rehabilitation, exercise, and a healthier diet. He now lifts weights, walks regularly, and practices chair yoga, emphasizing a diet rich in vegetables, fish, and chicken.

Skelley’s faith and determination have been key factors in his recovery, with a commitment to leading a healthy lifestyle and continuing his journey to better health. With support from his medical team and a positive outlook, Skelley remains focused on his goals and moving forward in his wellness journey.
