A new bill proposing a $498 million investment in the film and TV industry in Texas is gaining traction, aiming to double the current state’s investment in the entertainment sector. Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick has stated that the bill would provide $450 million in additional tax credits and $48 million for TV ads and small films. This investment is expected to create more jobs and boost the local economy, with the state projected to receive a $4 return for every $1 invested.
The Texas Moving Image Industry Incentive Program, which was established in 2005 to promote film and television production in Texas, will also receive a significant increase in funding with $200 million allocated to the program. Texan actors have come together to advocate for these incentives, launching a marketing campaign featuring well-known actors such as Matthew McConaughey, Woody Harrelson, and Dennis Quaid to emphasize the benefits of filming in Texas.
Videos posted on YouTube by True To Texas and Good For Texas highlight the economic advantages of investing in the state’s entertainment industry, with Dennis Quaid stating that moving Hollywood to Texas is not a political move but a business decision. The campaign encourages supporters to contact their State Representatives to show their support for the Texas Film Incentive. With the goal of turning Texas into the new Hollywood, the proposed bill has the potential to transform the state’s entertainment industry and boost economic growth.
