The boil water notice in Lewisville has been lifted after a 30-inch water main broke, causing 21 Lewisville ISD schools to close on Monday. Water quality tests have shown that the water is now safe to drink, and residents are advised to flush their water systems. Steps to do so include running faucets for 5 minutes, flushing water heaters, throwing out old ice, and running dishwasher and refrigerator water dispensers. The water main break, which occurred due to erosion along a creek, affected thousands of central Lewisville residents. The unexpected day off for students was a relief, with many enjoying the nice weather. Residents shared their experiences with the water shortage, with one mother having to travel to find bottled water for her baby’s formula. The city of Lewisville has restored water service, but the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality required the boil water notice to be issued as a precaution. Classes at LISD will resume as normal on Tuesday now that the notice has been lifted. The new source of water issues information comes from the City of Lewisville.
