Residents in Richardson are fighting against the construction of a new HVAC testing facility in their neighborhood. Lennox, a company known for producing air conditioners and heaters, is looking to build a research facility to test large commercial HVAC systems. However, residents in the area, which is surrounded by homes, have raised concerns about the impact it will have on their community.
Many residents have signed a petition in hopes of stopping the zoning change that would allow for the construction of the facility. They believe that the proposed building is inappropriate for their residential neighborhood and will negatively impact their quality of life. Some residents have expressed concerns about noise, view obstruction, and the potential decrease in property values.
On the other side, representatives from Lennox have stated that the equipment being tested in the facility will not be heard outside the building. They have also made plans for landscape screening and enclosed recycling dumpsters to address any potential concerns.
The Richardson planning and zoning commission voted in favor of the zoning change, with one member expressing concerns about property values. The decision now lies with the Richardson City Council, who will have the final say on the matter during a meeting on Feb. 10.
Residents are hopeful that their voices will be heard and that the construction of the HVAC testing facility will be stopped to preserve the peaceful and residential nature of their neighborhood.
