FireAid Raises Over $100 Million in Benefit Concert Funds, Reports NBC New York

The FireAid benefit concert held last week in Los Angeles to raise money for victims of the wildfires in the area has smashed expectations by raising over $100 million. The event, which featured performances from top artists like Billie Eilish and the Red Hot Chili Peppers, was streamed by more than 50 million viewers and included donations from U2 and the Los Angeles Clippers owner Steve Ballmer and his wife.

Three nights after the concert, the Grammy Awards urged for more donations, resulting in nearly $9 million being raised. The Recording Academy and MusiCares also raised over $24 million for charitable activities over Grammy weekend.

The funds raised from FireAid will be used to support the immediate needs and long-term recovery of the Los Angeles region affected by the wildfires. Organizers have stated that fundraising efforts are ongoing and anticipate making their first grants by mid-February.

The success of FireAid highlights the power of music and community coming together to support those in need during times of crisis. The generous donations from both individuals and organizations demonstrate the collective effort to provide relief and aid to those impacted by the devastating wildfires in the Los Angeles area.
