No. 11 Women’s Tennis Shuts Out No. 3 Oklahoma State, 4-0

No. 11 Texas Women’s Tennis advances to the quarterfinals of the ITA National Indoor Championships after a 4-0 sweep against No. 3 Oklahoma State. The Longhorns secured the doubles point with wins at Nos. 3 and 2 before claiming singles victories by freshman Salma Drugdova, freshman Ashton Bowers, and junior Vivian Ovrootsky. Drugdova dominated her match, only dropping three points in the first set. Bowers and Ovrootsky also delivered impressive performances to secure the win for Texas.

Three matches were left unfinished with the Longhorns holding leads in two of them. Seniors Sabina Zeynalova and freshman Eszter Meri were leading their respective matches, while freshman Carmen Herea was tied in hers. The team will face No. 2 Texas A&M in the quarterfinals of the ITA Indoors on Saturday.

Earlier in doubles, Texas secured the point with wins at Nos. 3 and 2, despite a loss at No. 1. Drugdova and Herea clinched their match with a tiebreaker victory at No. 2. The Longhorns’ success in both doubles and singles play propelled them to a dominant victory against a tough opponent in Oklahoma State.

The team’s performance marks the fifth-straight year and sixth time in the last seven years that the Longhorns have reached the quarterfinals of the tournament. With their strong showing, Texas is poised to make a deep run in the ITA National Indoor Championships.
