Ole Miss Baseball suffered a tough loss to No. 19 Texas, falling 10-0 in their second game of the weekend. The Rebels managed just two hits, with Judd Utermark and Ryan Moerman contributing a double and a single, respectively. Freshman Walker Hooks made his collegiate debut, impressively striking out four batters in 2.2 innings of relief.
Despite a strong start from pitcher Riley Maddox, the Longhorns took advantage of a rough fourth inning to score seven runs. Hooks came in to limit the damage and retired the next six batters he faced. Texas sealed the win with three more runs in the seventh inning.
Ole Miss will conclude the Shriners Children’s College Showdown against No. 15 Clemson. They will also face No. 19 Texas again in their second matchup of the tournament.
