The IDF claims that Hamas terrorists brutally murdered Israeli children Ariel and Kfir Bibas during their kidnapping in 2023. In response to the explosions on empty Israeli buses in the West Bank, Benjamin Netanyahu has authorized an increase in troop numbers and new operations. Israel claims the operations are in response to rising militant attacks.

Meanwhile, an 18-year-old ethnic Chechen has been arrested in Berlin for allegedly planning an attack on the Israeli Embassy. In Saudi Arabia, Arab and Gulf leaders discussed an Egyptian proposal that excludes Hamas from governing Gaza. US allies Saudi Arabia and UAE have emphasized the need for a Palestinian state coexisting with Israel. Egyptian president Abdel Fattah al-Sisi left the meeting after discussing alternatives to the Trump plan for displacement of Palestinians from Gaza. Sinn Féin boycotted a visit to Washington DC in protest of Trump’s stance on Gaza, while Irish premier Micheál Martin emphasized the importance of engaging with the US administration.
