No. 16 Texas secured a narrow 4-3 victory over Dartmouth in the series opener at UFCU Disch-Falk Field. The Longhorns took an early lead and held on for the win as sophomore pitcher Thomas Burns closed out the game with a five-out save, marking the first of his career. Junior Ruger Riojas picked up the win on the mound for Texas, while Dartmouth’s Marco Dumsky took the loss. Texas got on the board early with runs in the first and fifth innings, leading to key hits from junior Jalin Flores and sophomore Tommy Farmer IV. Dartmouth fought back with runs in the fourth and sixth innings, but Texas held on for the win. Senior Kimble Schuessler led the offensive charge for Texas with three hits and a sacrifice fly. The Longhorns will aim to clinch the series in the next game scheduled for Saturday at noon.
