Restoration companies and plumbers in North Texas are experiencing a surge in calls following the recent freezing temperatures in the region. Bursting and leaky pipes are common after a deep freeze, leading to a busy weekend for these businesses. Ruben Stocker, lead mitigation technician for TRC Restoration, explained that jobs can take anywhere from an hour to five hours, with dehumidifiers being used to pull moisture out of the atmosphere. Stocker and his business partner, Matt Frank, have been responding to calls in Arlington, Keller, and Carrollton, with one particularly challenging job in Carrollton requiring a family to stay in a hotel due to a burst pipe on the second floor. In Frisco, crews are working at Lone Star High School after a water leak forced an evacuation of students and staff. Stocker anticipates a fully booked weekend for TRC Restoration, as temperatures are expected to rise above 30 degrees, causing homeowners to prepare for possible damage. The increase in calls is a direct result of the recent freezing temperatures in the area. This information was gathered from interviews with FOX 4 Reporter Peyton Yager.
