As college basketball season heats up, Texas teams are making their mark in the hunt for the NCAA Tournament. With Texas Tech and Texas A&M ranked in the top 15 of the latest AP top 25 poll, there is high anticipation for their projected placement in the 2025 tournament. ESPN’s Joe Lunardi released his latest Bracketology rankings, highlighting several Texas teams in the field of 68 as Selection Sunday approaches on March 16.
In Lunardi’s projections, Texas Tech is seeded 3rd in the East region and is set to face Utah Valley, while Texas A&M is seeded 3rd in the West region and is slated to play Towson. Baylor is projected as a 9th seed in the Midwest region, with Illinois as their potential opponent. Texas is a projected 11th seed in the East region, set to face Saint Mary’s.
On the bubble are Oklahoma, listed as the last four in, Texas as the last four byes, and SMU as the first four out of the tournament. The SEC and Big Ten conferences stand out as the most dominant, with a combined 23 teams in the projected field.
