NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth reports that Bluebonnets to bloom late this year in North Texas

With spring approaching, bluebonnet season is expected to be in full bloom soon. Despite a dry fall in 2024, the winter brought more generous rains, leading to a good germination of bluebonnets. Senior Meteorologist David Finfrock from NBC 5 predicts that there will be a lot of bluebonnets this year, although they may be slightly stunted due to the lack of optimal rain in the fall and winter months.

The dry weather in October and November was followed by more substantial rainfall in December, which helped the bluebonnets grow and thrive. The peak of bluebonnet season is anticipated to be around mid-April, giving Texans a chance to enjoy the beautiful sights of these iconic flowers.

NBC 5 is encouraging viewers to share their bluebonnet photos by emailing them to ise@nbcdfw.com with their name and city. These photos may be featured on TV or on NBC 5’s website in the bluebonnet photo galleries.

As the weather gets warmer and spring officially arrives, Texans can look forward to the vibrant bluebonnets decorating the countryside. Despite the challenges of a dry fall, nature has found a way to thrive, and wildflowers are expected to paint Texas landscapes with their beautiful blooms in the coming weeks.
