Police in Florida believe that 16-year-old Miranda Corsette was lured to meet 35-year-old Steven Gress through social media, leading to her being beaten, killed, and dismembered. Corsette was reported missing last month in Gulfport, Florida, and investigators are still searching for her body. Gress, along with his partner Michelle Brandes, were arrested and face charges in connection with Corsette’s death.
Corsette had met with Gress on February 14 and had returned to his house in St. Petersburg. The next day, she went back to his house and remained there until her death. Investigators believe that on February 20, a dispute occurred which led to Corsette being beaten, and she was killed sometime between February 20 and 24. Gress then allegedly put Corsette’s body in a car and drove to another house in Largo, Florida, where she was dismembered.
Gress was arrested on March 5 for an unrelated incident, and Brandes turned herself in to police on Saturday morning. Both Gress and Brandes face first-degree murder charges, with Gress also being charged with kidnapping Corsette. It is unclear if they have attorneys to represent them at this time.
The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are working to locate Corsette’s remains. This tragic case highlights the dangers of meeting strangers online and the importance of exercising caution when interacting with individuals on social media.
