Rowlett officer shares details of actions that saved accused drunk driver.

A Rowlett police officer, Issac Gorskikh, is being hailed for his heroic actions after rescuing a suspected drunk driver who crashed into his patrol car. The incident occurred on Interstate 30 in Rowlett, with 33-year-old Lyn Alan Smith being charged with intoxication assault. Gorskikh shattered the window of the burning car to save the unresponsive driver and protect him from oncoming traffic. Both Gorskikh and Smith were hospitalized with injuries. Previously a Dallas Police officer, Gorskikh had only been with Rowlett for two months before the crash. Despite his own injuries, Gorskikh’s quick thinking and bravery saved a life.

In an interview, Gorskikh humbly downplayed his actions, stating that he was simply doing his job and that he couldn’t take the incident personally. He credited his instincts and Army training for guiding him through the rescue. Gorskikh, who is 28 years old and a new father, emphasized the importance of teamwork and heroism within the police force, acknowledging that he was just one of many capable of such actions. The information for this article was provided by the Rowlett Police Department and Officer Issac Gorskikh.
