Softball demonstrates elite status while baseball falls short


Texas Tech athletics had a mix of success and struggles this past weekend. The softball team took the series from Oklahoma State, with dominant wins on Friday before dropping the final game on Sunday. The baseball team, on the other hand, continued to struggle, getting swept by Grand Canyon and falling to 3-11 on the season. The Lady Raiders basketball team had their Big 12 Tournament run come to an end with a close quarterfinal loss to Oklahoma State.

The baseball team’s struggles continued, with pitching and hitting woes contributing to their losses. They will look to turn things around in upcoming games against Houston.

The Lady Raiders basketball team put up a fight in the Big 12 Tournament but ultimately fell short in the quarterfinals. Sophomore Loghan Johnson and Jasmine Shavers led the team in scoring, ending their season with a 17-17 record. They now wait to see if they will receive a bid to the Women’s NIT.

On a brighter note, the women’s tennis team is off to a strong start in Big 12 play, picking up wins against Utah and BYU to move to 4-0 in the conference. They look to continue their success in upcoming matches against TCU and Baylor.
