Dr. Gabriel Trujillo named as new superintendent of Grand Prairie ISD

Dr. Gabriel Trujillo has been approved by the Grand Prairie ISD Board of Trustees as the new Superintendent of Schools, set to begin his position in early April. Trujillo, who currently serves as the superintendent at Nacogdoches ISD in East Texas, brings 30 years of educational experience to his new role. He is known for his opposition to the school voucher agenda advocated by Gov. Greg Abbott and his background as a U.S. Air Force veteran and former Cub and Scoutmaster.

Trujillo takes over from former Superintendent Dr. Jorge Arredondo, who resigned in February following an attempt by the school board to fire him for undisclosed reasons. An outside investigation found that Arredondo had violated the district’s discrimination, harassment, and retaliation policy.

The news of Trujillo’s appointment comes from a press release from the Grand Prairie Independent School District and previous news coverage. The board’s decision to choose Trujillo as the new superintendent marks a new chapter for the district as they move forward from the controversy surrounding the departure of Arredondo. Trujillo’s wealth of experience and strong stance on educational issues make him a promising choice for the position, and the community is eager to see the positive impact he will have on Grand Prairie ISD.
