Anthony Stanley and his son rushed outside to bring their dog inside before the tornado destroyed their dog’s kennel and an adjacent storage shed. The tornado was confirmed to be an EF-1 strength tornado with winds of 110 mph, causing damage in the city of Gary.
This tornado was part of a series of tornadoes that hit the Mississippi Valley and the South, causing at least 40 deaths and destroying hundreds of structures across several states. Severe weather also returned to Indiana with heavy downpours and hail this week.
