Police have released the grandparents of a French toddler who went missing nearly two years ago due to lack of evidence. Although Philippe and Anne Vedovini had been detained on suspicion of murder and concealing a corpse, they were ultimately let go. However, prosecutors have stated that the family is still under investigation in the mysterious case of their missing grandson, Emile Soleil.
The toddler disappeared from his grandparents’ vacation home in a remote area of France in July 2023, and his remains were not discovered until March of the following year. Forensic evidence indicated that Emile had met a violent death, suggesting the involvement of a third party in his disappearance and demise.
Despite being released, the Vedovinis are not completely cleared in the investigation, and two of their adult children were also questioned and released. The family is described as staunch Catholics with 10 children who were all home-schooled.
Emile was last seen walking alone in the French Alps in 2023, sparking a massive search that did not yield any leads until months later when hikers found his remains. The investigation has involved extensive interviews, vehicle examinations, and searches, indicating the complexity and thoroughness of the case.
Although the grandparents have been released, the investigation remains ongoing as authorities continue to search for answers in the tragic and mysterious disappearance of young Emile Soleil.
