University of Texas baseball players Will Gasparino and Ruger Riojas received Southeastern Conference weekly honors for their outstanding performances. Gasparino was named SEC Player of the Week, while Riojas was named SEC Co-Pitcher of the Week. Gasparino, a 6-foot-6 outfielder, hit five home runs and drove in 13 runs during a perfect 4-0 week for the Longhorns. He had an impressive slash line of .533/.588/1.600 and had two multi-homer games. Riojas, a 6-foot pitcher, threw a career-long seven shutout innings with 10 strikeouts in a 7-1 victory against Missouri. He allowed only two hits and no walks, becoming the first Longhorn this season to throw seven innings with double-digit strikeouts.
Gasparino’s standout performance included hitting two three-run home runs in the series opener against Missouri. He also hit two solo home runs in the following game to secure the sweep for Texas. Riojas’ dominant pitching performance helped Texas secure the series victory, and he currently leads the conference in wins.
This is the first SEC weekly honor for both players in their careers. Gasparino’s offensive explosion and Riojas’ stellar pitching have been instrumental in Texas’ success this season. With five Longhorns earning SEC weekly accolades in 2025, Texas baseball continues to excel in the competitive conference.
