Launch date and the crew members involved

Blue Origin is set to make history with the first all-woman commercial spaceflight since Valentina Tereshkova’s solo spaceflight in 1963. The upcoming flight, scheduled for April 14, will feature a crew of six women, including Gayle King and Katy Perry, aboard the New Shepard spacecraft. This will be Blue Origin’s 11th human flight and 31st overall.

The crew members of the mission include Aisha Bowe, Amanda Nguyen, Gayle King, Katy Perry, Kerianne Flynn, and Lauren Sánchez. The New Shepard will launch from West Texas and provide a brief trip to the edge of space, allowing passengers to experience weightlessness and view the Earth’s curvature. Each spaceflight lasts about 11 minutes, with the capsule and rocket both designed to be fully reusable.

Blue Origin does not publicly list prices for their flights, but potential customers must agree to a $150,000 deposit to reserve a seat. The company is also making strides in the commercial space industry, competing with SpaceX and developing other vehicles like the New Glenn rocket for deploying satellites into orbit. The upcoming flight represents a significant milestone for women in space exploration and showcases Blue Origin’s commitment to advancing space travel.
