Wylie police and fire officials responded to a report of suspicious items left outside a pawn shop on Monday morning. The items, which included a 55-gallon drum and propane tank, prompted the evacuation of nearby businesses and the closure of a section of State Highway 78. The bomb squad was called in to investigate the items, and a robot was used to approach and examine them. The scene was deemed safe around 12:30 p.m. and is now under investigation by authorities. Police have not disclosed what was inside the drum or who may have left the items in the parking lot. Residents are encouraged to contact the Wylie Police Department with any information about the incident. The source of this information is the Wylie Police Department and SKY 4.
