U.S. Health Secretary Visits Measles Epicenter in Texas After Child’s Death
U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. visited the epicenter of Texas’ growing measles outbreak on Sunday, following the death of a second child who was not vaccinated. Kennedy aimed to “control the outbreak” and offer comfort to the families affected by the tragic deaths.
The latest child to die from measles-related complications did not have underlying health conditions, according to the Texas State Department of State Health Services. This marks the third known measles-related death in the outbreak, which has now spread to neighboring states and Mexico.
