Nicole Borges Joins No. 1 Rowing Team as Assistant Coach


Nicole Borges has been appointed as an assistant coach for the No. 1 Texas Rowing team, as announced by head coach Dave O’Neill. Borges brings over 20 years of coaching experience at various levels, including collegiate, national, and international. She most recently served as the doubles Junior National Team Coach for Canada at the 2024 Junior World Championships.

Borges has a successful coaching track record, having worked with the Don Rowing Club in Mississauga, Ontario, where she guided the program to multiple gold and silver medals. She also previously served as an assistant coach and a global recruiting lead at the University of Washington, where she helped lead the Novice Eight to success.

As a former athlete, Borges was a member of the Canadian National Rowing Team and achieved success at various international championships. She also competed at the collegiate level at the University of Washington, winning NCAA National Championships and Pac-10 Championships.

Borges expressed her excitement about joining the Texas Rowing program and learning from Coach O’Neill, whom she regards as one of the best in collegiate rowing. She, along with her husband and four children, have relocated to Austin for this opportunity.

Overall, Borges’ extensive coaching and athletic background make her a valuable addition to the Texas Rowing coaching staff, and her experience and expertise are expected to contribute significantly to the team’s continued success.
